Days Left
Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information Days Left handles, where it is stored, and who it is shared with. Days Left is a countdown, year progress and home screen widget app for Android. It has no accounts, no sign in, no analytics and no advertising.
Information we collect
Days Left does not collect personal information. There is no server behind the app, no account to create and no way to sign in. The app does not transmit your events, your settings or any information about your device to PolarPacific. It contains no analytics library, no crash reporting library and no tracking software.
If you contact us by email, we receive only the information you choose to include in that message.
Information stored on your device
Days Left keeps everything it needs in local storage on your own phone, in two standard Android places:
- A local database (Room) holding your events: the name you give an event, its date or date range, and the colour you picked for it.
- Local preferences (Jetpack DataStore) holding your app settings, theme choice, home screen widget configuration, and which one time purchases you own.
Both are held in the app's private storage area on the device. Other applications cannot read them, and PolarPacific cannot access them.
Advertising
Days Left contains no advertising. The app includes no advertising network, does not read or collect an advertising identifier, and your activity in the app is not used to target advertising elsewhere. The app is funded by the optional purchases described below.
Purchases
Days Left offers three one time in-app purchases that unlock extra colours and themes, remove the free event limit, or do both together. Purchases are handled entirely by Google Play Billing.
When you buy something, Google Play processes the payment. Your card number, billing address and payment details never pass through Days Left, and are never seen or stored by the app or by the developer. All the app receives back from Google Play is the fact that a given purchase is owned, which it records on the device so your unlock keeps working.
Google's handling of the payment is covered by the Google Privacy Policy. Refunds and purchase history are managed through Google Play, not through this app.
Permissions
Days Left declares the following permissions, and no others.
INTERNET
Required by Google Play Billing so it can check with Google Play whether a purchase went through and what you own. The app makes no other network requests: it has no HTTP client and contacts no server of its own.
ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE
Also used by Google Play Billing, so it can tell whether the device is online before it tries to reach Google Play.
POST_NOTIFICATIONS
Allows the app to show notifications on your device. Any notification is produced locally by the app itself, never pushed from a server, and can be turned off in Android settings at any time.
RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED
Allows the app to detect when the device has finished restarting, so that home screen widgets resume updating.
Device backup
Days Left allows Android's standard app backup, which means Android may include the app's local data (your events and settings) in the device backup your phone makes to your own Google account.
This backup is stored in your own Google Drive, under Google's terms, and is used to restore your data when you set up a new device. It is not sent to PolarPacific and cannot be accessed by us.
To prevent this, turn backup off for Days Left, or for the device as a whole, in Android settings under Google and Backup.
Data deletion
All data is stored on your device and can be removed at any time:
- Delete one event. Deleting an event in the app removes it from the local database, along with the countdowns and widget displays drawn from it.
- Delete everything. Uninstalling Days Left removes the app's local database and preferences from your device. Android's Clear storage option, in Settings, Apps, Days Left, wipes the same data without uninstalling.
- Backup copies. If device backup is on, a copy may still sit in your own Google account backup. That can be removed from your Google account backup settings.
There is no deletion request to submit, as PolarPacific holds no copy of your data. Purchases are the exception: they are recorded by Google Play against your Google account, so they persist after uninstalling and can be restored.
Children
Days Left is not directed at children. It collects no personal information from anyone, so it holds nothing about a child either. The app has no accounts and asks for no date of birth, so it has no knowledge of any user's age. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, please contact us using the details below.
Third parties
One third party service is used by the app, solely for the purchase flow described above.
- Google Play Billing. Processes in-app purchases and tells the app which products you own. Covered by Google's own privacy policy.
There are no other integrations: no data brokers, no advertising networks and no analytics providers. Your information is not sold, rented or shared. If a further service is added, it will be listed here and the date at the top of this page will be updated.
Changes to this policy
If Days Left changes in a way that affects this policy, this page is updated and the last updated date at the top changes. Material changes are also noted in the app's release notes on Google Play. Continuing to use the app after an update means the revised policy applies.
