Sip Seed Privacy Policy

Last updated: 28 September 2026

Sip Seed is a water tracker for Android. This policy explains what the app does with your information.

What we collect

We collect nothing ourselves. Sip Seed has no account, no sign in and no analytics, and the app does not send your drinks, plants or name to us.

The app shows ads, and the ad provider collects some information to do that. See Ads below.

What stays on your phone

Your drinks, goal, reminders, plants, seeds, garden and the name you choose are stored only on your phone. If you make a backup, it is saved to a file in the place you pick. Uninstalling the app deletes this data.

Trading seeds

When you open the trade screen, Sip Seed uses Bluetooth to find a friend's phone nearby. While that screen is open, your phone announces the name you chose in the app over Bluetooth so your friend can find you. The two phones then exchange the seeds being traded directly. Nothing passes through a server. On Android 11 and older, Android requires location permission for Bluetooth scanning. Sip Seed does not read or store your location.

When you share a seed code, the code holds the seed and your chosen name. You decide where to send it.

Ads

Sip Seed shows small ads on some screens and offers videos you can choose to watch for rewards. These come from Google AdMob. To show and measure ads, AdMob may collect your device's advertising ID, your IP address, approximate location based on that address, and how you interact with the ads. Google's use of this information is covered by its own policy: How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.

Where the law requires it, for example in the EEA and the UK, the app asks for your consent before any ads load. You can reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of personalised ads, in your phone's settings under Google, then Ads.

Buying "No ads" or "The whole garden" turns off all ads in the app.

Permissions

Notifications: to remind you to drink, at the times you set.

Nearby devices (Bluetooth), or location on older Android: only to trade seeds with a friend nearby.

Internet and advertising ID: to load ads and check your purchases with Google Play.

Purchases

If you buy anything in the app, Google Play handles the payment. We do not see your payment details. The app asks Google Play which items you own so it can unlock them, and remembers the answer on your phone.

Children

Sip Seed is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
